Aladdin  and Jasmine said it best when they sang "A Whole New World".  I have learned so much in this class, not only from the research I've done on my own but from looking at everyone else's contributions to the class. I have discovered a whole new side of education. I have been around teachers my entire life. I work with technology every day in my professional life. I have always desired to put the two worlds together, I just didn't know how. This field of study is the answer to that pursuit.  I was surprised to see how much educators have to struggle with technology. It was very eye opening to understand how instruction of all ages have to "just make due" with whatever they have access to.  This course and moreover, the program have sparked within me the desire to provide a wholistic solution for educators from a technologist's perspective. The Philosophy of Using  Instructional Design in Technology      The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Information Technology as the technology involving the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data. To drill down into the definition of information technology, "technology" itself is defined as something that is created to solve a problem. IT is the creation of devices used to help convey information from one party to another. At its very basic level, IT and the derivatives of it are designed to instruct others how to solve a problem. Instructional design is the creation of materials, specifically technology to assist in education.           I am at the junction of Instructional Design & Technology and Information Technology.
